Milling Section

Vertical Mill VM, is a machine used for reducing the size of the input material. High velocity of the rotor and friction created through the inner area of the sieve drum makes the input stock ground to finer size.

Vertical Mill finds application for grinding the corn in the pasturage process, bone grinding, wood cutting, flour mills and feed mills.

It is essential that the machine feed should be constant to achieve better grinding efficiency of the vertical mill.

In flour mills, the vertical mills are installed to get finer size of bran through impact grinding. Besides this, bran flakes are ground to fine bran whenever required.

In feed mills, the vertical mills find application for grinding various size ingredients to obtain uniform particle size of desired granulation.

 Description of the machine

The Vertical Mill has strong outer cover (1), collection hopper (2) and base flange (3) made of steel plates joined by welding process. The machine (5) is provided with hinged cover (4) at one side of the top portion facilitating replacement of perforated sieve whenever required. The hinged doors are provided with the lock (6). The upper part of the machine is covered with a lid (7) and the inlet hopper (8) to feed the input material for grinding. Inner part of the machine is provided with a frame (9) to hold the sieve drum.

Vertical Mill

Bag filter (10) is provided at the top surface of the machine to let out the hot air generated during the operation of the machine. The Vertical Mill is driven by flange mounted induction motor (11). The motor shaft is fitted with the rotor beater assembly rotating at very high speed. The nave of the hammer rotor is mounted directly onto the shaft of the electric motor and is secured against the radial movement with a spring and against axial movement with a screw. The hammer rotor consisting of the nave (12) in which four pins (13) are placed at 90 degrees. In each pin, four beaters (14) are fitted and placed equidistant using spacers (15). The beaters are made up of strip iron with holes (16) drilled at both ends of each beater. The holes at both sides of the beater enable changing the position of beaters in case the beaters are worn out. Pins (13) are fitted in the rotor and locked using screws (17). The beater assembly is covered by perforated sieve drum of specific mesh dia as per the requirement of the customer.

Merits
  • Large sieve surface
  • Trouble free operation
  • High grinding efficiency
  • Uniform particle size of required granulation
  • Flexibility for desired granulation of output material as per mesh size
Mode of operation

The input material passes through the high speed rotating beaters. The intensive action created during the rotation of beaters reduces the particle size. As the material becomes finer, the stock passes through the perforated mesh to the collection hopper. The ground stock from the collection hopper is sent for packing or subsequent process. The output of the machine varies according to the nature of input material and mesh size.
